User's info
I am a Connemara speaker.
If I have given two pronunciations for a word the first will usually be a standard (lárchanúint) pronunciation and the second a Connemara pronunciation.
I love all of the Gaeltacht accents and especially amhránaíocht ar an sean-nós (Sean-nós singing).
TO NON-EDITORS:
If you find a mistake in the spelling of a submitted word, please report it and let the editors fix it for you _before_ attempting to pronounce it. :-)
TO ANYONE SEEKING PRONUNCIATIONS IN IRISH GAELIC:
Some "Irish" names people submit are actually anglicized spellings imposed by the British over the past 400 years. You may be able to find the modern native Irish Gaelic spellings here:
http://www.irishidentity.com/names.htm
If you have received a translated phrase from a machine translation site or simply wish to have your friend's (or your own) Irish translation confirmed, try taking it to:
http://www.irishlanguageforum.com/
There you can have it checked before submitting it for pronunciation. It's free.
(It's hard, if not impossible, to pronounce incorrectly spelt words and phrases. ;-) )
