User's info
I was born in 1981 and grew up in New Jersey, very close to New York City. I recently completed a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
I love accents and the sounds of speech in different languages. My accent could be described as a white-collar New York area accent... It sounds pretty "standard" to me (although a "standard" accent doesn't truly exist, I realize), except that I say ARange (for ORange) and FLARida (for FLORida), which is typical of people from the NYC area.
My grandmother, who also grew up in New Jersey near NYC, has the classic old-timer blue-collar New York area accent ("New Yawk," "cawfee," "fuggettaboutit," etc.). I love hearing her accent, as well as accents from all over the place.
